Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing is IT-as-a-Service. By cloud computing IT is no longer bought and sold as a physical product; it is a subscription to an internet service.

Traditionally, IT is a product to be bought and sold similar to other physical products. E.g. when a customer has bought a server or a piece of software, he owns the product. By cloud computing IT is no longer a physical product; it is a subscription to an internet service.

An example of cloud computing could be a subscription to an e-mail service or access to a server capacity supplying the customer with processing power and storage capacity. There is many discussions in the IT industry about pros and cons related to cloud computing.
